over night fast pushes predominately lipid as the substrate for modarate prolonged exercise

Van Loon LJ et reported that intramuscular triglyceride stores form an important substrate source during moderate intensity exercise (60% of the VO2max) in endurance-trained male athletes following an overnight fast, with the oxidation rate of muscle- plus lipoprotein-derived TG being decreased with the duration of exercise.
